Adventures Lie Ahead

Hello! Thank you for visiting our blog today.

As you may know, we run a themed challenge over in our Facebook group. This month the theme is ‘make a tag’ and Jane Tyrrell has some super inspiration for  you…

Good evening.. it’s another marvellous Monday and I am here with my weekly dose of  inspiration for Visible Image. Helen and Mark aka Mr and Mrs Visible Image have recently taken on 10 new talented Design Team members and said goodbye to some old. We now have a truly international team of 14 and I am delighted to be continuing to design for them.

Visible Image also announced that they are exhibiting at Creativation in January, the huge crafting trade show in the USA. This is incredibly exciting, and shows just how much Visible Image has grown over the last year.

With all these new adventures we have ahead, I decided to make a tag using the fab Destination Unknown stamp set:

the Distorted Chess stencil:

and the Scripted Streets stamp set:

I had the idea in my head that the little paper boat stamp could represent the “Good Ship Visible Image” (yes I know there is a lot that goes on in my brain when I am creating!)

I made an inky background on my tag using these distress inks and the wrinkle free technique.

I then added vintage photo ink through the distorted chess stencil

and then added some script stamping using the scripted streets stamps

I also gold embossed some words …… very relevant to the journey ahead…

Here is my finished tag…

The Good Ship “Visible Image”…the words from the Destination Unknown set are just perfect 😊

It really is such an great adventure which lies ahead and I am delighted to be a part of it.

Thanks for stopping by,

Bye for now,
Jane x

Destination Unknown

Hello there!

We have some awesome inspiration flying in from Dot Leathbridge in Australia next…

Destination Unknown  is one of the fun new releases from Visible Image.

The paper boats and planes reminded me of so many fun times as a kid… and even now seeing as I work at a school!

Gee, how much fun was it to see Visible Image back on Create & Craft?
The time difference fitted perfectly for me so I was able to watch it too.

This set has so many words to choose from that would be handy for a wide range of projects.
So words, all of them, became the backdrop for this card!

The words were stamped with picket fence distress paint and then gone over with distress inks… with some shadowing added.

The arrows were added to represent Adventure.

Like a treasure map.

The cat from Create It represents Explore.

As cats do!

And the paper planes represent Journey.
The paper planes come in three sizes with is an added bonus too!

Apologies for neglecting our blog, but I (Helen) have been ill all week so it’s been a struggle to get everything done. Hopefully you follow us on other social media sites and will have seen some of the amazing inspiration we have been sharing!

So, we are playing catch up here on the blog again and we have a wealth of stunning projects coming your way over the weekend.

First up today is Corrie Herriman…

Hello everyone,

Today I am sharing a card I made with Destination Unknown, one of the NEW stamp sets from Visible Image.

I have used a gelli printed background.

I think these paper boats are so cute!

Love this card Corrie… perfect sunset over the sea background!

Destination Unknown

Hello! We promised you more NEW stamps inspiration this weekend so we are here to deliver!!!

Over to Nicky Gilburt who has created something rather awesome…

Another sample from this month’s launch of Visible Image’s new collection of stamps, today I’m sharing a card I made with two sets, Destination Unknown, and a pair of awesome background stamps, Scripted Streets

2017-02-04 Visible Image -paper boats - paper planes - stamps - Nicky Gilburt

I first prepared my background with my new Tim Holtz distress crayons. I used the neutral tones, the main colour being my new favourite, Rusty Hinge, but I mixed it with lighter and darker tones to achieve an aged, rustic look.

My whole background sheet was a piece of A5 Mixed Media card. From this I was able to make my square background AND my tag.

TOP TIP! If you are preparing backgrounds in advance of a project, always cover an area larger than the one you might choose to use; you then have spare colour matched background for text or testing mediums on (which was how this tag started, if I’m truthful! I was testing the background stamps on it)

So as you can see, I used the background stamps first, to add a little interest to the square, and then I stamped the words around the page, and triple stamped a few for shadow.

I filled spaces with arrows and arranged my tag, using string to secure it to the card.

Although the base card is kraft card, as you can see, all the work was done on white card, which I then distressed round the edges and mounted onto black, with just a tiny border, This works in two ways; it strengthens and flattens the mixed media card which by now has been quite ‘worked on’, and it draws the eye to the detail.

The planes and boats….! Adorable, and inspired!

I stamped onto thin white card, used grey distress ink to watercolour a small amount of shadow onto each one, and adhered them to the card, some flat, some on pads.

All of the stamps used to make this card are available on preorder (although not long to wait now!)

Happy crafting!

AMAZING card! WOW! Thank you Nicky ♡

Love how the monochrome of the paper boats and planes stands out against the rusty sepia tones of the background.
